Q.Cutting or Trimming a Gardenia
I have a potted gardenia plant on the patio. It is doing very well, looks strong, shiny leaves, no blossoms. I only had a couple over summer in Chicago area. I have a heated greenhouse I will put it in when it gets colder. The question is whether it should be trimmed or not. It seems that if I cut off the top I, of course, will not get blossoms. But maybe blossoms only come in the spring. Trimming might establish a stronger lower bush effect. I don’t know.
