cutting Hibiscus shrubs

Should Hibiscus shrubs, that are healthy and doing well be cut down to stubs in the spring in
South Florida?

When you cut it down all of the way, you will expect a very branchy shrub to take its place. To form a tree, you will only leave one leader when the new growth comes back.
