Q.Cutting Back Sago Palm

Anonymous added on February 17, 2014 | Answered

We have a sago palm that is too big for its location. It is too big for us to move. We want to do an extreme pruning and cutting back to a more reasonable size. Can this be done? Thanks.

Sagos do not always take well to drastic pruning; however, in this case some pruning may be necessary to reduce the stress associated with transplanting - this too is something for which sagos resent. Remember to get as much of the root system as possible when digging up the plant and transplant it to an area with similar growing condiitons to ensure its health.
