Q.Cutting Back Flowering Shrubs

I am having a new garden fence/wall built but they can’t start until mid-May. All along that border is well established flowering shrubs which are just coming into flower. Should I cut them back as soon as possible or leave it until the last minute? I’m

Typically, you will want to cut them after flowering, but it won't do any harm to do so, now.
