Q.Cutting back an overgrown Yucca

Zone St Helens,Merseyside,wa9 2qj | billywalker35@hotmail.com added on January 24, 2014 | Answered

Need help cutting back a overgrown Yucca plant and repotting it (don’t know if there are any buds growing on the stem). It is a friend who has asked me about a plant she has got growing in the house that is getting too tall. She asked me how she could cut it down smaller, but not kill it. I don’t know if thereĀ are any buds on the stem. Saw a photo and all the growth seems on the top. I would be grateful if you could help me. Thank you, Billy.

It is really going to depend on the kind of yucca it is. Most yucca will regrow from below the cut and you can also start a new plant from the cutting. If you send me a picture of it, I can let you know how best to proceed.
