Q.Cumber Plants Browning

Zone Clearlake, Ca | Angelparr added on March 26, 2020 | Answered

I’ve started my cucumber plants indoors to get an early start, along with the rest of my garden, they all seem to be doing well but two of my cucumber plants leaves are starting to turn brown, why is this happening and what can I do?

It appears to be normal, but could be the start of a bacterial infection.

Those cotelydons (round seedling leaves) are only meant to serve as a nutrition source until the true leaves can take over with photosynthesis. After that, the cotyledons will start to degrade. Sometimes, they will stay on for quite awhile, but it is normal to see them die off.

If this starts spreading to the healthy, true leaves, then you will want to attempt treatment with a fungicide, and let them dry out a bit between watering.
