Q.Crown Of Thorns Question

Hello! I’m hoping you can tell me what this “stem” is on my Crown of Thorns plant. It grew from a flower stem and seems quite sturdy. The flower stems usually die and fall off after the flowers are gone, but this one is growing new leaves and thorns. I’m just curious about what it will become. This plant normally lives in its pot outside in the warm/hot weather and I bring it inside for the winter. This odd stem started to grow this past summer. Thank you!

Crown of thorns may grow extra stems if given too much fertilizer. It also could be a mutation. Here is more:
