It might be tempting to prune off the damaged material, but it is best to wait until the following spring to prevent new growth from forming while temperatures remain cold. Water the plant sparingly after frost damage to keep the roots from becoming waterlogged, and wait at least six to eight weeks before providing fertilizer. In spring, snip off any damaged leaves or branches roughly 1 inch below the damaged areas. Resume normal watering and feeding once temperatures rise and all frost danger has passed.
