Crown of thorns

I was given a crown of thorns plant when it was 2 inches tall about 3 years ago. It was a very easy plant to care for! It bloomed over abundantly and constantly! Now it is over two feet tall from the dirt to the top of the flowers! It only has one stalk and has no branches. I lived in Georgia and kept it in a window where it got late afternoon and evening sun and was quite warm! I recently moved to Kansas and tried to move it as carefully as I could. Due to it being in winter we carried it in for night when we stopped. Now in southwest Kansas it has not been doing as nice. I have it in the west window where it gets late afternoon sun but not as much as Georgia! Also the air is drier so I have tried to water it more. The leaves tend to just droop and it isn’t blooming as profusely!!! It is putting on new leaves and blossoms. Do I need to be concerned or just give it time to adapt???

Drooping leaves that don’t perk up after the plant is watered are often a sign of overwatering. Crown of thorns does well in dry air, so you don’t need to water it more often than previously. It’s best to water when needed instead of on a specific schedule. In winter, feel the the soil to 2-3 inches down to make sure it’s dry before watering, as described in this article:

The lower light level may be the cause of the smaller number of blooms. If you want more blooms, try adding a grow light nearby. Otherwise, placing it outdoors in the spring once it’s warm enough will promote more blooms.
