cross pollination

I had a plant come up from last year I believe. The fruit looks like an elongated green pumpkin/zucchini or pumpkin/spaghetti squash. In time, part of it has turned orange. It is very hard skinned like a spaghetti squash. If I can open it, is it edible? I have 10 of these mutants. I know I had some pumpkin seeds in that area from last year. I also had zucchini and spaghetti squash this year in the garden planted in a different area.

Yes, it is safe to eat. I cannot say if it will be tasty, as I don’t know what the cross did to the flavor, but it is safe and worth a try. Who knows, it might be delicious.
