Q.Crepe myrtle won’t grow

Anonymous added on June 3, 2015 | Answered

I have a problem with my Crepe Myrtles. I usually wait till spring to trim them back for the new growth, but this year I decided to prune them in December. I have two out of 20 that something is going on with them and I can’t figure it out. The two are still alive, but are not producing new growth. They have produced a little small growth that kinda looks like when they first start budding new growth out but it’s only come out about 1/8 to 1/4 inch out. They look like a crepe myrtle that’s been pruned with little mossy looking new growth. My husband swears they are dead but they aren’t because I can see this little small crinkle leaf. But this is as far as they have grown. What could the problem be and how can I get them to grow? Thanks!

If you are seeing growth, then they are not dead. The slow leafing can be caused by a number of things. This article explains many of the reasons and should be helpful:
