Crepe Myrtle-White Spots on Branches

I have little white spots/bumps all over the branches of one of my crepe myrtles. They are raised about 1/8 inch and can be rubbed off. In some areas there are just a couple and in others dozens. Do you have any idea what it is and how I treat it?
