crepe myrtle tree

My 10 year old crepe mytle tree suddenly has sticky, shiny leaves. There were ants crawling up the tree and I sprayed with ant spray. I see no evidence of the ants now. What can I do for my tree?

It’s likely aphids, which secrete sticky honeydew (attractive to ants). This can normally be treated with neem oil.
