Crepe Myrtle From Seed

Do Crepe Myrtle seeds cross pollinate? I have grown a lot from seed with different varieties that line the driveway. My red seems more like a watermelon color, or I have been told they do.

Crepe myrtle seeds have a number of genes with various combinations. Depending on the actual gene combination in the seed, the flower color may or may not be exactly like those of the parent plant. Therefore, the majority of the seedlings do not have the same flower color, which may be the case in your situation.
