Q.Crape Myrtle Color Change.

Zone 76233 | Grady6711 added on August 20, 2020 | Answered

Last year I planted a crape myrtle that had Fire Cracker Red blooms. It bloomed earlier this summer but now it is blooming again but the blooms are now pink. Do crape myrtles bloom different colors as they get older?

It isn't age as much as the weather. And red is more prone to these changes because it is the least naturally occurring color in crape myrtles. More often, certain cultivars of red bloom white after drastic changes in weather.
