crepe myrtle

Previous owners of the house I purchased last year had planted a crepe myrtle too close to the house. If I could control the height and diameter, I would like to keep the plant. It is approx. 6 yrs. old and gets some morning sun but not a lot, which has apparently caused limited blossoms. At present, it stands 20 ft. high and covers a bedroom window. Can I control or maintain a height of approx. 10 ft.?
