crepe myrtle

I have a few crepe myrtles in the yard of my new home. As a new resident of the south I am not familiar with the growth but one of the trees branches are all drooping from the top creating a smothering effect. I have pruned some away to lighten the weight but doesn’t seem to have made enough difference.
