Crape Myrtles

My crape myrtles were looking so good this year but they got hit by the last frost and all the leaves died. It almost looks like it killed them. It’s now about a week and a half later and there is still no new growth. Do you think they are dead?

They are likely still alive, but you can check a small branch to be sure. Living branches are green on the inside and are supple and hard to break. Dead branches, on the other hand, will snap easily and will be brown on the inside.

This is a common thing that happens to trees that experience a late frost. The new leaves are very frost tender and die, but the tree will regrow them in a few weeks. Give the tree some time and it should be fine.
