Q.Could my gardenia bushes be saved?
Is my gardenia dead or alive? I bought two gardenia trees 3 months ago. When I first got them, they were abundant with flower buds and lush green leaves. I brought them home and kept them in the house next to the window and soon the leaves started turning yellow. I put the trees outside and the buds have dropped off and ALL the leaves are dried out and brown. I think the trunk of the tree is still alive. Not sure what to do with the plants. Should I repot them in bigger pots and use acidic fertilizer? Should I trim all the dead leaves off? Is there hope?
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog!
Gardenias are one of the most fussy plants I've ever owned. Mine was doing really well until yesterday. I forgot to water it before going to work. I found 2 of the buds had drooped and I know I will lose them. But at least another opened up.
I hope you try it again next year. Good luck!

I really enjoyed reading your blog! The suicidal gardenia thread was hilarious. I think I'm going to pitch them. The leaves are completely brown and dry. I feel terrible about giving up on them but I think they're probably too far gone. Good luck to you with yours. You're doing a much better job than I have!!
Hi debilcious,
To stop the yellowing you can use cornstarch and fertilize with a product for acid loving plants. You can read my success story with my gardenia and what I did to baby it, on my blog. Just search for "Masochist or gardenia lover". I have my first open blossom of the season with many other buds waiting to open.
Thanks,
