Q.Corylus Avellana Contorta Has A Straight Shoot

Hello there. I just bought a Corylus avellana contorta and I have planted it.. however I have noticed that it has a very straight shoot coming from the ground next to main stem/ trunk .. it has the same leaves but is very straight.. do I need to cut it off ? Many thanks Joana

Yes, those are suckers form the root and they will take over your tree, eventually. You will want to cut them off.
