Cornmeal as weed killer

Is there a difference between cornmeal (like what is used for baking and cooking) and corn gluten? Have not been able to find corn gluten.

Corn gluten is derived from the part of the corn kernel that is not used in making Corn meal.
Corn meal is high in protein and nitrogen and is used as a fertilizer.
Corn gluten is more commonly used to control weeds. The oily coating on the corn gluten doesn’t allow roots to form so newly forming weeds die–if applied at the correct time.
Corn gluten can be found at feed stores and even home improvement centers may carry in their garden sections.
