Converting Area Containing Rotted Wood Chips Into Vegetable Garden

We are converting an area containing rotted, untreated wood chips into a vegetable garden. The area was previously used as play area and what now remains is soil formed from the breaking down of untreated wood chips. Can I work in more fresh soil and plant as a vegetable garden? Will soil be too acidic still?

Most vegetables actually do pretty well in slightly acidic soil. This area will be fine for a vegetable garden if you work in fresh soil.
