Container-Grown Fig Tree in Ohio

I planted a fig tree in a container this spring and it has been doing well. In September noticed about 12 figs growing. Knowing we’ll have to bring the plant in for the winter, but what about the figs? They’re not going to grow to a ripe stage this late in the season are they? Should they be ‘nipped’ off this year?

If they have dried out or are mushy, go ahead and remove them. If they are still green and firm, you can leave them on to ripen.
