companion planting

i have a small urban garden and have planted garlic in a terra-cotta planter. it looks a bit sad with nothing showing but dirt. the planter is visible from the dining room and living room so i would like to put something in it to bring a little cheer to an otherwise bleak wintry landscape but will not adversely affect the garlic. Any ideas?

Here is a list of companion plants that grow well with garlic:

Dill, spinach, yarrow, or one summer savory plant would be especially suited to your situation, since they are small leafy plants that won’t interfere with the garlic’s growth. Spinach especially does well in winter (until it gets really cold).
