Q.Compact Evergreen Viburnum Zone 4b

Zone 4B | rb_smith added on May 27, 2025 | Answered

I’ve been looking for a compact, evergreen viburnum that is adapted to zone 4b (northern New Hampshire). I plan a full to partial sun location. Other characteristics are not so important to me; I can adjust (it is frequently quite difficult to determine plant characteristics from incomplete online descriptions). Hope you can help. Thanks, Robert

In short, your best bet is Viburnum rhytidophylloides ‘Alleghany’. It’s semi-evergreen in cold zones, tough enough for full to partial sun, and tolerates harsh conditions better than most. For a smaller option, Viburnum x burkwoodii ‘Mohawk’ offers compact growth with fragrant blooms and decent cold resistance.
