Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comOk. Here’s the problem which I sent in a previous note earlier today but now I have more info about the trees. I have two Comice pear trees and the fruit which comes out in August is inedible. Turns out the root stock is different, probably a summer pear which is why the fruit comes out in the summer and not the winter. Can this be? If I put the pears in the refrigerator for a month will they ripen? thanks.

Comice pears don't ripen on the tree. You harvest in fall and store in refrigerator for up to two months. When you want some, you pull them out and let them ripen on the counter.
