Q.Comice pear tree

Zone 92067 | Anonymous added on April 18, 2019 | Answered

My 6 yr old Comice pear tree has never born fruit. I bought it from a local nursery where others have had great success with this type of tree. It’s healthy, with little sprouts coming up from the trunk ( that I cut off). What can I do to get it to bear fruit?

It could be that the soil is not fertile enough. Make sure to fertilize this at least once per year in spring. You could also use a layer of compost each year instead. This will break down and provide the nutrients needed.
