Q.Combining Bulbs and Root Veggies

Anonymous added on May 1, 2014 | Answered

I have a very small garden and would like to grow both flowers and vegetables. Can I plant root vegetables, such as carrots, in the same place as my daffodil and crocus bulbs, or will the veggies disturb the flowers as they grow? Thank you for the help!!

It's fine to plant these together but you need to make sure that the vegetables have their own designated area in the garden so harvesting them does not affect the flowers (i.e. uproot them). Also make sure that the flowers you plant share the same or similar growing requirements, especially when it comes to water. Vegetables need lots of water throughout the growing season and many bulb plants do not require as much.
