color of hydrangeas can you get a more vivid color

This year my hydrangeas were outstanding and it was the color I asked my daughter if she did not think they were the most beautiful they had ever been she ans mom it is the color it is more vivid or seemingly so. I fool with the acid and lime products and I am wondering if this has some effect. I have read that you can change the color but not the intensity.
