Q.Clematis looks completely brown and dead after blooming a month ago

My clematis vine that I planted last year grew nicely (for first year) and flowered beautifully last month (May). Now it is completely brown and looks dead. What happened?

It sounds as though your clematis has clematis wilt which is a disease that strikes the vine just after or during vigorous growth.
