Q.Citrus Tree Branches Turning Brown

Zone 35660 | Bayryamov added on April 6, 2021 | Answered

The branches of my orange tree are turning brown on the tips, going slowly down towards the trunk. It is about meter tall, have planted it 4 month ago aprox. It is in the ground, not pot. Fresh small leaves were growing, then turned brown, branches followed. It is growing in the canaries, plenty of sun, no wind in the garden…It is getting nutritiens especially for citruses, not too often. Leaves are green, but I am afraid once the brown part reaches to the hight of the leaves, they will die off too. Thank you in advance

This has two main causes. It could be either.

The first suspect would be overfertilization. This will make new growth burn off, rapidly. This can be tested and corrected, however. This article will help with soil testing:

The other issue could be overwatering. Many will, mistakenly, overwater a fresh planting out of instinct to give a plant water, as well as rainfall being a contributing factor. Here is an article that will help you to monitor soil moisture:

A fungicide may be in order. This article will help:

This article will help you with the, general, care of orange trees:
