Q.Christmas Palm Tree Looks Like It Is Dying

Zone Sebastian, Florida | Anonymous added on June 7, 2025 | Answered

One trunk of our Christmas palm looks like it’s dying. All the fronds have turned brown but are still hanging on. Will the tree live if cut off that trunk? Is there something else we should try ? We know nothing much about palm trees. Thank you.

Christmas palms are self cleaning so it should drop the fronds itself. Are you fertilizing the tree? If not, use a slow release plant food specially made for palm trees. Sometimes the trees are planted close together giving a clustered tree effect. The competition for nutrients and water can cause one tree to die. If that is the case, you should remove it.
