Q.Christmas Cactus Limp RED Leaves

Zone Fort Myers, FL | sanibelpatty added on November 28, 2022 | Answered

I have read your wonderful articles on Christmas and Thanksgiving cactus. None mentioned red leaves. My other 4-5 are doing fine and “may” bloom. I moved this one outside where only eastern sunlight would be early morning. (I was concerned about any problems spreading to other plants). The pot is about 4 inches square and plant is 2-3 years old. I live in Ft Myers, Florida. Thanks!

Typically, this is due to one to two main reasons-

Too much light, will be one cause. These succulents cannot tolerate much bright light, and some less than others. It could be that this specimen is just a little more sensitive to brighter light conditions.

The second will be a lack of nutrients. Though they don't usually require much feeding, they will appreciate it on occasion.

One, less common, reason why it could be doing this will be root crowding. This is not common, since they will grow in these conditions, naturally.
