Christmas cactus fertilizer

What is the best type of fertilizer to use for a Christmas cactus? I have been using a 10-15-10 on it, as my mother had been for years. I was recently told I should use a fertilizer for succulents, and then someone else said I should use a fertilizer for blooming plants. What is YOUR advice for me? Thank you.

A balanced fertilizer is normally advised. During the spring and early summer, fertilize every 14 days with a 10-10-10 mix or with something similar. However, if the method and fertilizer you use worked for your mother and subsequently you as well, then by all means stick with it. In gardening, there is no “one size fits all” method. What works for one may not another and vice versa.
