Christmas cactus

Three of my plants have flower buds and I have yet to place them in darkness. Should I leave them where they are or go ahead and provide darkness for two months?

There are a few environmental requirements that must be met before it starts to flower correctly. These will require a change in light, temperature, and amount of water it gets.
