Christmas cactus

I have had my Christmas cactus for 13 years. It has never grown much and is straggly, although it does bloom. I repotted it today in a shallower pot with other succulents. The cactus did not have a root ball, just saw a few longer roots. What should I do or not do in this situation? I had no idea it was supposed to get so big!

Christmas cacti are epiphytes (plants that are capable of growing on other plants or on rocks, often with no soil), so the small root system is normal for this plant. Your Christmas catus may need more fertilizer and more light to grow fuller. Is there a sunnier spot in your house where it can live? Here is some advice on fertilizing Christmas cactus:
