Christmas Cactus

My Christmas Cactus – one of the branches is starting to break if I don’t do something soon. It is very large (2 big branches) and probably 7-8 yrs. old. It is blooming its head off right now!! Beautiful. What do I do? It is starting to split about 2″ to 3″ inches above the soil. It is also very healthy. Please help!!

Your Christmas cactus is probably in need of pruning. The goal is to encourage the plant to grow more bushy, short foliage instead of just a few branches that eventually get too long. See this article for how:
