Christmas Cactus

Why are the stems brown about 2 inches above the soil on my Christmas Cactus? It was my sister’s and she passed away so I just acquired it.

This is likely stem rot on the plant. This can occur if the soil is cold and damp. Unfortunately, this likely will kill your plant. If you have any healthy parts of the plant, you can propagate Christmas Cactus.
