Choice of evergreen tree

I am looking to replace a tree at the entrance to my driveway. The one there at the moment has suffered significant wind burn and needs to come out. I live in Southport on the West Lancs coast and the ground is very sandy. I always say that there isn’t anything between me and Dublin except weather so it is no surprise that this has happened. I am looking for another evergreen that will not suffer in this way. I don’t want it to grow more than 20 foot. Can you please help me choose a suitable tree?

Many thanks
Judi

I would suggest a visit to your local garden centers and greenhouses and look for dwarf conifers that would be available for your region.
Horstmann Blue Atlas Cedar and Den Akker Alaskan Cedar may be good choices.

It is possible to make some amendments to your sandy soil in the planting area.
