Christmas Cactus

My Christmas cactus refuse to bloom. They have produced terminal buds, like roundish gnarled growths which weigh the stems down and seem to be blocking the formation of flower buds. Do you recognize this condition and is there a cure for it?

Can you send us a picture of it? This will help us better diagnose what it might be.

Is this a new plant? At the growers they treat the plants with hormones to artificially produce buds. These rarely flower when you bring it home, just turn brown and eventually fall off. Keep the plant properly all year, and by next holiday season it should flower just fine.
