Chilies

Can anyone tell me why my Scotch bonnet Chilies have no heat whatsoever? I bought them labelled at my, usually reliable, local garden centre and they have grown well. The plant is about 127cm with dozens of chilies but neither the fruit or seeds have any heat at all. Why?
