Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comThis is my first time growing celery. I have started some inside my home and they need to be planted in my traditional garden. I have learned that they like to be moist and do not tolerate drought and need to be fertilized regularly to keep up with the nutrient needs. I have a friend that grew celery once and said the plant looked beautiful but did not produce. Is there anything else I need to know so my celery plants will produce? We live in an area that is windy and temperature varies. What is a good fertilizer for them and how often to apply? Is there any vegetable they should not be planted by?

The best thing you can do for celery is keep it watered well. They thrive in moist soil. As for fertilizer, compost mixed into the soil at the time of planting should suffice, but another during mid-season would hurt either. It grows well with most vegetables.
