Q.cause of bud drop of gardenia in large container

Zone Sonoma, CA 95476 Sunset zone 14 | Carol Tait added on August 4, 2018 | Answered

Bought a 5 gal gardenia with a ton of buds. Planted in large pot (14″ wide by 21″ tall) on front porch, lets lots of light but no sun. looked great until buds started to wilt, turn brown and drop. I have 1 healthy looking bud left! What do I need to do for next year??

This will need fertilization every year to ensure that you get plenty of blooms. This is usually a potassium and phosphorous deficiency.
