Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI want to use casuarina needles, of which I have a lot, as mulch. I have heard, however, that unlike pine needles, they have an inhibiting action on plants, which is why nothing grows under them.
Is this true, and would they make a good mulch?
Regards,
Bill Ure

All of my research points to them being a decent mulch for deep rooted plants, as they will prevent young weeds from starting. Just have care, and don’t apply this to baby plants.
