Care

I recently purchased 4 hibiscus plants and planted them in concrete pots. They are doing well but I am concerned about their care. Mine have a wood root system. My neighbor has one like it and stated it is called a ‘woodie’ and must be taken inside for the winter. Is this true, and if it is, how do I take care of them? I live in Missouri and our winters can get very cold.

Some hibiscus are hardy hibiscus and some are tropical.. If the flowers are orange or yellow, they are definitely tropical (hardies don’t come in these colors) and freezing weather will kill them but they both come in a wide variety of colors . The tropicals can be brought in for the winter and taken back outside after all danger of frost is past.
