Care of olive tree

I have an olive tree which I received as a gift in the summer. As I live in Norway with frequent minus degrees outside, I decided to bring my tree indoors till the spring. It seems to be doing OK but recently has shed a lot of leaves. Is this normal or a potentially bad sign? Should I prune the tree at some point?

The olive tree will often drop leaves when its growing conditions have dramatically changed (temperature change, light amount change, air humidity change, for example). This is called shock. Most of the time, if the plants needs are being met, the plant will recover from shock. Olive trees need at least six hours of sunlight and very well drained planting medium. Yes, you will eventually need to prune your olive tree to keep it to a manageable size–a size that will allow you to be able to carry it without trouble outside when the weather become warm again.
