Q.Care For A Newly Established Potted Pampas Grass

They are in large pots in the garden in Aberdeenshire. No fluffy grass heads this year should I cut them back in winter or spring or wait till they flower.thanks

Pruning, only, needs to be done to remove dead growth, but doing so requires pruning the entire plant down. It would benefit from pruning this, upcoming, spring. Do so just as it is starting to send up new growth for the year.
