Care and Pruning of an Indoor Gardenia

I live in southwest MO and received a small gardenia last year. It is blooming now and has about 16 buds, but winter is just around the corner and I think it needs to be pruned a little. How do I prune it? Also, the roots are coming up out of the ground. Should it be re-potted?

It does not need to be pruned to be healthy, but if you would like to shape it with pruning, wait until after the blossoms are gone.

You can repot the plant if you see roots out of the bottom. Move it to a new container that is 2 inches larger in circumference than the current container.
