Canary vines

At the end of the season, do the flowers have seeds in them that you can dry out and plant next year? Or can you dig them up and get something from the root if you leave it till next spring…or what?

Seeds can be harvested at the end of the season. Not every flower will produce seeds. Seeds should be throughly dried and stored in an airtight container.
The seeds have a hard shell and will benefit from scarification or soaking in water overnight before planting.
You can direct sow the seeds after frost danger is over or start indoors 6 to 8 weeks before planting outdoors.
Canary Vine are only perennial in zones 9 or higher. Canary Vine is an annual in zones colder then zone 9.
