Q.Can you use store bought potatoes to grow your own

I am interested in growing potatoes this fall and want to know what to start with.

They are best planted in early spring. You can buy USDA certified seed potatoes at your local nursery or garden center and some big box stores.

Grocery store potatoes are not recommended as they are treated with a chemical to inhibit sprouting.
